St. Vincent de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic organization of lay persons, who seek, in a spirit of justice and charity and by person to person involvement, to help those who are suffering.

The aim of the Society is to relieve suffering.  The material or moral help is given by person to person contact, by member or members to individuals or families.  Assistance is essentially local and is adapted to the particular needs of Manatee County.

Catholic in character, the Society is open to all who wish to live their faith by loving and serving their neighbor.  No special qualifications are required other than the desire to join with others to help those in need, for the love of God.

Our training is OJT (on the job).  We work by phone or face to face with those we serve.  As each client's needs differ, our expenditure of time varies.  Usually 4 hours of office time is required 3 times per month.  Home visit requirements cannot be anticipated but members should be available according to their schedules.

Meetings are held bi-monthly, the first Wednesday of the month at 9:00AM and the third Monday of the month at 6:00PM.  There are no dues, but a sacrificial contribution by secret collection is taken at each meeting to give proof of our spirit of giving.  No amount is fixed.
