Formally registering to become a member of the parish is very important.  Anyone who wants to be a godparent for baptism or a sponsor for confirmation MUST be 'officially' registered as a member of the parish they call home.  Godparents and sponsors must provide a letter from the pastor/administrator of the parish where they are currently attending Mass.  In that letter the pastor/administrator verifies that the person is a Catholic in good standing who is attending Mass every Sunday and actively participating in parish life.

If you are a seasonal parishioner, we encourage you to register both at your home parish 'up north' and at your seasonal parish.  It helps both parishes better understand their congregation and its demographics.
