Institute for Catholic Studies and Formation
Are you hungry to know more about Scripture? I am happy to announce a new series of courses which the institute will be offering in partnership with the Diocese of Venice Office of Evangelization: “Feasting on God’s Word: Encounter with Sacred Scripture.”
These will be a series of 10-week courses, eventually covering the entire Bible. Students taking 2 courses per year can cover the whole Bible in 3 years. Courses will be offered online and in-person at select host parishes. Each course includes reading Scripture, praying with Scripture (Lectio Divina), Scripture study and opportunity to discuss the Scriptures and learn from the insights of your classmates. There are no graded assignments, just the opportunity to read, study, and pray with Scripture.
We begin this Fall with two courses -- both courses begin September 13 - the cost for either course is $100.
The Good News of Jesus Christ in the Four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) will be offered online. The course meets for ten weeks, and students can log on at any time during each week to view the pre-recorded videos and engage in the discussion board. Creation and Covenants: A Study of the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) will be offered in-person at St. Thomas More parish in Sarasota. The course meets on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00 PM for ten sessions. Each class will include prayer, lecture, and discussion. For more information and to register online click HERE.
