Bereavement Ministry

When a death occurs in a family, one of our volunteer funeral planners calls and offers help in any way possible.

We usually meet with the family, offer condolences on behalf of the parish, then assist with choices of readings, music, offertory procession participation and displaying photos and other memorabilia.  We have a booklet containing appropriate readings to help the family make their selections.  Readers can be family, friends or one of our readers.  Families and friends can also choose to do a short (5 minutes) eulogy, which can be read before the Mass begins.

Members of the Bereavement Team also attend Funeral Masses to assist the family during the service.

It is a beautiful ministry that serves individuals and families at one of the most vulnerable times, and we always welcome new members.
