Music Ministry

At St. Joseph Catholic Church we are blessed with a wonderful Ministry of Music!  We are blessed with wonderfully talented individuals who make up a variety of groups to praise God through their melodious voices and the art of playing musical instruments.

Celebration Singers: provide music at the Sunday 11:00a.m. Mass from September through May. They sing in unison and three part accompanied by piano and guitar.

Children’s Choir: open to children of reading age and older. The children sing once a month during the school year at the 4:00p.m. Saturday Mass, and monthly on Sundays at 11:00a.m. Mass during the summer. The children sing on Christmas Eve and other special occasions throughout the year.

St. Joseph Chorale: provides music at the Sunday 9:00a.m. Mass from September through June. This SATB choir rehearses seasonally on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00p.m. Accompaniment includes piano and organ. This Chorale prepares music for Holy Week and presents an annual concert in the church with members of the Sarasota Orchestra.

Chamber Choir:  This is our only “by invitation only” choir. They provide music from October through May monthly at the Saturday 4:00 p.m. Mass, the All Souls’ Day Remembrance Service and the Good Friday Entombment Service.

St. Joseph Hand bell Choir: provides bell ringing monthly at our 4:00p.m. Mass throughout the year. To better foster our mission to ecumenism, the Hand Bell Choir frequently combines efforts with the Carillon Ringers of First United Methodist Church in Bradenton. Music reading skills are necessary to ring well and new members and substitutes are always needed. Training is provided.

St. Joseph Church Cantors: work with our organists/pianists in singing the Mass Psalm and providing music at our non-choir masses throughout the year.  Auditions are required.
